Andy Khumbanyiwa is results-driven, client-responsive with strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, networking and interpersonal skills. He has held senior positions in both the public and private Sector where he has supervised numerous programmes/ projects and provided strategic leadership and direction to hundreds of employees. He has achieved programme objectives on time and within budget. In the course of his career, he has mobilized US$ millions from various donors to support institutional programmes/ projects. Through design and implementation of robust field activities, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems, procurement, accounting and audit systems funds have effectively been used for intended purposes and substantial savings have been achieved.
He recently completed a 5 year contract (December 2013 – June 2019) with the Agricultural Research and Extension Trust (ARET) where he served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He also initiated the accreditation programme of the Mwimba College of Agriculture, with the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) which is in its final stages of being fully accredited.
Andy also served, for 12 years (1998 – 2010) as an International Civil Servant with the African Development Bank (AfDB) as Principal Projects Officer where he was based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and Tunis, Tunisia. Andy also briefly worked for the Blantyre Synod Health and Development Commission (BSHDC) as Executive Director (April 2013 – November 2013). Throughout his career in both the public and private sectors, Andy has successfully built effective working teams, mobilized communities, mobilized donor funding, formed productive and collaborative partnerships to achieve shared programs and policy outcomes.
